KINGS CAKE

Known as 'Roscas de Reyes' (King's Cake or King'sWreath), this holiday dessert offers much in the way of symbolism. It is round to signify a King's crown and colorfully decorated to signify jewels on a crown. Into this sweet bread is baked a small plastic doll symbolizing a secure place away from King Herod's army where the infant child could be born. Tradition holds that whomever finds this token should host an upcoming party for the occasion of "Dia de la Candelaria" on February 2nd.
